A walk through the center of Aguascalientes

CultureMexico 28 October, 2019

In the streets of Aguascalientes, perfect for a leisure stroll, time seems to stand still.

Although this city has grown considerably, the buildings at the historic center are so well preserved they seem to have been built yesterday. But of course these churches, plazas and gardens have been there since the 16th and 19th centuries, and they are considered National Heritage. The photogenic rose-colored towers and huge jacarandas set against the clear blue sky wait for the breathtaking sunsets that locals boast about –and for a good reason.

Plaza de la Patria is a good starting point for a stroll. From there, it is easy to walk to the Cathedral and to the charming Patio de las Jacarandas, or to the old Hotel Francia –now one of the most beautiful Sanborns stores. For a traditional lunch, La Saturnina is a must, and after that, sit at a sidewalk café to watch time passing by.
