Street art en Londres

CultureEngland 28 October, 2019

As this urban art route proves, art in London is not only inside museums.

The British capital is full of art, but not only in its impressive museums: the streets are filled with work from contemporary urban artists. Street art changed the city´s landscape –now people visit neighborhoods that were not that fashionable before, like Shoreditch.

Here you can find (legal and illegal) murals made by artist as famous as Banksy, Obey Giant and Blek le Rat. Even if you don´t recognize the names, their work will be familiar.

We recommend these following spots to enjoy the best street art in the city:
• East London: Shoreditch is the heart of graffiti.
• South London: In Brixton you can find the David Bowie memorial. Croydon is home of RISEgallery, an art institution that supports street artists.
• North London: Camden tube station is filled with thousands of multicolored tags.
• West End: Soho and Covent Garden also have an assortment of small street art sculptures (look for them in Berwick Street, in Soho).
