The World´s Aquarium: National Park Cabo Pulmo
AdventureMexico | 28 October, 2019Discover National Park Cabo Pulmo, one of the world’s richest natural reserves in Mexico, known as the world’s aquarium.
Cabo Pulmo is one of the best examples of a successful ecotourism project. Here, it was the local community who decided to take up ecological action and become a protected natural area, and from being a tiny fishing town, it became an ecotourism paradise. Today the Park, on the shores of the Sea of Cortez –considered the world´s aquarium– is home to a great diversity of sea and terrestrial life which was until very recently on the brink of extinction.
Travelers come to dive amongst fish of all colors, turtles and giant sting-rays, and if they are lucky, they will see whales and sharks. Tourist infrastructure is simple: bungalows, cabins and family owned homes. A warning: to contribute to ecologic health, the use of sunscreen and fishing are prohibited here.
